4/14/2023 0 Comments Nosleep subredditNothing has worked, and the issue has come to a head this month. Between then and now, several other communities have been created to both educate writers about their rights and teach YouTubers about copyright. Two years ago, Druga said that they created a subreddit to help foster a positive relationship between authors and the people who would like to narrate their work in YouTube videos. "So we, the mods of r/nosleep, have decided to take a stand in support of our authors and the projects that have been created to fight on their behalf."Ĭhristine Druga, one of No Sleep's mods, said over email that this problem has spanned years. There are still authors who aren’t aware that they have rights in regards to what is done with their stories once they are posted," the mods said in their collective statement about the closure. There are still fans of those channels and pages who are either ignorant of copyright laws in regards to posting written work to the internet or refuse to believe that those laws exist. I bet her tea tastes like a loving hug."There are still people sharing and narrating r/nosleep stories without permission. I put her in crocs because she seems like the type of granny to unironically love crocs. Then there’s the Lady with Too Many Eyes, just enjoying a cup of tea. If you’re polite, though, it’s pretty polite back. Living mountain of detritus coming through, move it or lose it! And by lose it, I mean the Thing in the Dark gets SUPER ticked if you look at it going by, and will eat you alive. Explaining anything about him is a spoiler, but it’s mentioned multiple times throughout the series that Kate has a shotgun and knows how to use it.īottom is the Man with the Skull Cup going diving, looking for something important in the middle of winter. Here we have Kate facing off against the Not-Brother. To show that, I put the left one in a French-silk top and hula skirt, the middle one in a marching band shirt and leggings, and the right one in a tux jacket and Daisy Duke shorts. They also love crazy parties and tend to dress in clothes that don’t make sense. They love to dance, and get offended if you interrupt them or are rude in general, and they’re pretty vicious when angry. No one knows if they’re fairies, and they refuse to answer. If you talk to him, and he talks to you, then he will control you, and you will not be you anymore.īottom is the Dancers. I tried for a sinister expression, and added a sketch on the side to show his face better. He gets very offended if you call his deer a horse. Kate says he’s hard to make out, but that he’s very bright and shiny. His deer is gigantic, and I thought about making him smaller to show that, but he’s supposed to be a powerful fairy, so he’s probably pretty big, too. He seems to favor Kate for some reason.īottom is the Fairy on the Deer. If you refuse, he kills you, as fae are wont to do, and if you sip, you puke most of the day, but end up fine. He always has a skull-shaped cup with him, and likes to ask people to take a sip from it. He looks different for everyone who sees him, and this is what he looks like for Kate. It means that she’s not always the nicest person, but it’s nice to have an author that isn’t a Mary Sue who everyone loves–you can tell Kate is trying her best, and that’s what’s interesting. Kate does what she thinks is best for the camp, even if it’s occasionally at the expense of a camper or a denizen. I tried to put a little leafy logo on her shirt. It’s another long post, so it’s under the cut. I might do more later that are cleaner and more “finished,” but I wanted to show off what I have so far. The one thing is, if you’re going to comment, make sure you do so in-character, because the rule on nosleep is “everything is real, even if it isn’t,” so the bots delete comments that are too meta.Īnyway, the author gave me permission to doodle some of the denizens of her woods! So I’ve been sketching most of the day, and the pictures are a little messy because they’re mostly quick practices of each character, but I’m pretty proud of them. There’s so much research put into each chapter’s Nonhuman of the Week, and the story ramps up and up and up until you’re on the edge of your seat, wondering how Kate will survive the latest disaster. It’s super good, it’s about a camp manager, Kate, who tries to keep her camp safe for both the campers, and the folklore and fae living in the woods. Lately I’ve been getting really into a series on the subreddit, nosleep, called How to Survive Camping! The first chapter is here, if anyone is interested in reading it:
